Cantref Trekking & Riding Centre

A family run business located in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park with panoramic views of the National Park and Black Mountains.

Cantref Riding Centre is the only horse riding centre situated on the Brecon Becaons! You are ensured a warm welcome from everyone at Cantref which has been run by the same family for over 40 years.

We offer riding for all abilities. The 20 minute ride is suitable for the beginner rider and for children aged 4 - 6 years. The ride takes place in the riding school with a member of Cantref staff.

The hour ride is suiable for beginner and novice riders aged 6 years and over. The ride takes place around the farm on bridleways with minimal roadwork. There are some spectaular views of the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. The ride remains at the walk and is the ideal ride for families with younger children.

The half day ride is approx. 2 1/2 hours long and goes up onto the Brecon Beacons. Please note that children must be 11 years. The ride suitable for all abilites and there are opportunites to canter for the more experinced riders, conditions permitting.

The day ride takes you into the heart of the Brecon Beacons with a lunch stop en route. Please note that children must be 11 years and over and a packed lunch is required. Packed lunches are carried in the sadllebags.

B.S. hats are provided free of charge and must be worn at all times. Basic instruction is given before every ride. Please wear suitable clothing - long trousers, strong shoes, waterproof jacket and suncream. Every effort is made to ensure all riders have an enjoyable ride.

All rides are escorted by experienced and friendly guides who hold recognised qualifications and First Aid Certificates.

Please note that children must be 4 years and over to ride at Cantref.

New additions to the Riding Centre include an adjoining farm park and adventure zone for the younger visitors. Guests are welcome to stay on site for their visit whether it is for a long or a short stay, be it in the Bunkhouse, (either the 24 person or the 10 person, ideal for large groups) where you can stay in rooms with views over the surrounding mountains and countryside.
